This steep mountain valley makes up part of the "headwaters" of the Ruth Glacier.
It's impossible to describe the immense size of Denali. It's taller then Mt. Everest from bottom to top and also one of the most massive mountains on Earth. The foothills you see here would be regular sized mountains in most places on the continent.

Fall is beautiful and underrated in Alaska. Maybe because for outsiders it can be so hard to hit it just right. Fall is known for unpredictable weather and a short time frame for colorful leaves. Some years it rains during that whole window. Other years we get an Indian Summer.
I passed this pool of water on the highway more times than i can count. Finally one fall i passed by on just the right day for colorful birch to reflect in still waters. I never saw it look so nice again in the years to come.
